»The Show Must Go On«: The station »Radio Frankfurt« organized a world record attempt for the »longest radio music show (team)« during the 2024 carnival season. The passionate presenters had put together their own music program with numerous editorial highlights for this record-breakingly long show. A radio show full of music, surprises and great guests – just like the radio station’s usual program, but extra-long.

10-person team takes alternating turns moderating

A total of ten persons went »on air«. They included Hakan Turan, Raoul Helmer, Helmer Litzke, Andreas Schmidt, Sandrina Kunz, Eike Knall, Dieter Döring, Felix Rockenkamm, Roger Rinker and Julia Moschner. The station describes its RID world record attempt as a »tribute to music and a sense of community«.

The team members had to host the radio marathon alternately in pairs. Each team member was able to bring in their own style of presenting to inspire the listeners. The uninterrupted program, which started at 6 a.m. on 8 February 2024, was therefore never boring. The declared goal: to last longer than 106 hours 50 minutes. Because that’s how long the radio music show from a Dubai radio station lasted in 2018.

The mood during the world record attempt remained excellent despite increasing fatigue. After all, the »fun marathon« ran over the carnival weekend. Numerous party songs and Mallorca hits kept the team and listeners going.

Can Radio Frankfurt manage 132 hours non-stop »on air«?

In the early evening of February 12, the »Radio Frankfurt« team broke the previous world record. But the 132 hours that the record hunters had originally set themselves were still to be completed. RID record judge Olaf Kuchenbecker traveled all the way from Hamburg to personally supervise the final hours of the world record attempt. The radio show was broadcast until February 13, 2024 at 18:02:03 – the record result was announced immediately.

132 hours 2:03 minutes had been successfully completed! With this time, record judge Kuchenbecker certified the world record for the »longest radio music show (team)«.

Kuchenbecker formally honored the creative mind behind the record attempt, Eike Knall, as well as the entire Radio Frankfurt team with the coveted RID record certificate. This world record shows that passion for music, creativity and technical expertise are the unifying elements of the team.
